Fanny's Foodie & Drinkie Guide

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all, thought this would be a good day to introduce my love for tasty food and a good dam drink. As many would enjoy something a bit more special today, especially on a day like this when a lot of people go out celebrating with loved ones. Of course this is something I do too, but I think many would agree that a date gets even better if you find that right dish and refreshment that makes it even more special and your taste buds starts exploring.

Goose and Gander Blackrod
A cosy environment with your person sets that date off to an even better start. I am a big candle light date fan, so if you are ever invited to a dinner at mine my electricity does work.

I was born in Sweden, Stockholm and have 40 years experience of delicious food and to be honest invest a lot of time and money doing just that-eating!

My love of food began at just  18 months old eating my first Swedish prawn cocktail (Skagen) and loved it ever since. If you know you know 😘

Coming from a food background where the bigger the better is not actually always the case , I prefer to have smaller amazing dishes presented beautifully. So yes you now know already a Wigan pie, chips and mushy peas is not for me. Only maybe after a few too many cocktails, but we won’t talk about that!

I met my husband 19 years ago, while working on the cruise ships in the Caribbean. The food for the staff while working away was not up my street, imagine fish eyeballs and not caviar.. So I was looking forward to explore and eat in as many countries as I could and looked up restaurants to visit. This is something I still do a lot today, so I thought why not share my love for food, drinks and memorable places so maybe one day you will try them too. Always great to get recommendations isn’t it? Tbh I probably remember every single restaurant I have been too in my life and what others in my company have enjoyed too. It sometimes drives my husband mad, as I will tell him the whole menu before he even sat down. However finding the restaurant again by driving is not my forte, but don’t worry Discover Venues will help you with that.

Arborio Rice Risotto with Wild Mushrooms

Mushroom Risotto
Today I had the goat cheese, which was lovely-especially with the light drizzle of pesto dressing and the homemade chutney. The risotto here has the magic of garlic, white wine and truffle blended with delicious mushrooms and I struggle to order anything else when I visit, as I enjoy it so much.

However they have plenty more to choose from. I just think when you enjoy a dish so much, why not order it again and in some places that works well for me. Even though my palette has room for many things (especially seafood) this is my choice most times here when I come so it must be mouth-watering.
Hubby aka John, went for a Fish Goujon starter which came beautifully presented on a bed of creamed potato and crushed peas. For Main he chose his favourite dish off the Lunch Menu, Chicken Supreme, which is a combination of chunky chips, carrots, green beans with kale and peppercorn sauce.

The desserts are also beautifully presented with fresh berries and my husband especially enjoyed the lemon tart. I sneaked the meringues as always. Topped of with a cold glass of Prosecco and a slice of strawberry on top for me! I always get very disappointed when that Prosecco arrives without a little decoration on top, surely this should be a no brainier.

Anyway, a little introduction to one of Fanny’s recommendations you should def try this restaurant. Great for a date night or with the family. By the way, yes you read that right earlier my name is Fanny-you will never forget it. Maybe you will remember it as much as I remember my food, so hopefully I will see you again on here. I have a lot to share and I hope you will enjoy reading about my journey for passion of food in restaurants and them candles of course- With a Prosecco, a good wine or a refreshing cocktail. See you soon xx
